Antoris MR is indicated as an adjunctive treatment in adults with stable angina pectoris, particularly for patients who are not adequately managed with, or are intolerant to, standard first-line anti-anginal therapies.
Trimetazidine is the first 3-ketoacyl CoA thiolase (KAT) inhibitor, a metabolic agent that enhances cardiac efficiency under ischemic conditions. It shifts energy production from fatty acid oxidation to glucose oxidation by inhibiting the KAT enzyme. Since glucose metabolism yields more energy per unit of oxygen consumed, this shift improves myocardial efficiency and oxygen utilization. It also helps prevent intracellular acidosis and preserves cellular homeostasis, effectively reducing angina symptoms without affecting hemodynamic parameters.
Recommended Adult Dose:
Modified release: 35 mg twice daily
Immediate release: 20 mg three times daily
Administration: Take with meals.
Re-evaluation: Assess response to treatment after 3 months. If no clinical benefit is observed, discontinuation is advised.
No significant drug interactions have been reported. Antoris MR can be safely co-administered with:
Pregnancy: Data on human use is limited; animal studies show no direct reproductive toxicity. Use only if needed.
Breastfeeding: Unknown whether excreted in breast milk. Due to the potential risk to infants, use is not recommended during lactation.
Antoris MR is not intended to treat acute angina episodes, unstable angina, or acute myocardial infarction.
It should be used as part of a long-term strategy, not as first-line monotherapy.
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct heat and light. Keep out of reach of children.
